Hey everyone. I did an earlier, shorter Jackal this week, but I wanted to do a round-up of some things I’ve been reading in case you have a friend, loved one, or very sentient pet that needs some extra convincing. Together, we will send Donald Trump back to the Shadow.
Should-Shares:
Over the last few weeks, I have tried to put together simple, easy-to-read posts about why the Orange Man™ is, in fact, bad.
This one is on tariffs and how Trump’s policies could actually increase inflation.
This one is on Trump’s economic record, which was not the “best economy of all time” (I changed the headline to make it more accurate).
This one is on Trump’s closing argument, in which he basically concedes that his plans will cause a recession (this has an update from the original email).
Those are Jackals meant for sharing. They are shorter and have lots of pictures, which appeals to my learning style.
Should-Read, then Should-Share:
These are a few pieces I have been reading that I thought did a good job explaining why the Biden/Harris Administration cooked:
This piece from Noah Smith is really excellent and easy to read.
This piece on Trump’s association with R.F.K., Jr., should be alarming to every parent.
Bret Stephens has, maybe, the best “conservative case against Trump” piece this week. Its title? “A Conservative Case Against Trump.”
This is not the most important thing, but it really is alarming: Donald Trump is almost $2 billion in debt. BILLION. That kind of debt makes him susceptible to all kinds of blackmail. Maybe it pushes someone you know over the edge.
Dana Milbank makes his final argument and it’s good.
I will be back with my own final take on Monday. Then we vote. Enjoy the weekend and remember to put down your phones every once in a while; doomscrolling will never satisfy you.1
Writing this to myself.
100% needed that doomscrolling comment. But these are great!
